Xilamuren Grassland

Xilamuren grassland lies in the southeast of Damao Union Banner of Baotou. It is a famous resort to escape from the hot summer. It is an earliest grassland scenic spot that developed in Inner Mongolia. Mornings and evenings are very cool and the average temperature here in July and August is 18℃- 21℃. 

The Puhui Temple, which is called the Zhaohe Temple by the local people, is located on Xilamuren grassland. The Temple built in 1759 during Qing Dynasty has the history of more than 200 years. The structure of the temple is a combination of both Han and Tibetan style. The superb craftsmanship before 200 years can be viewed in this temple on the grassland.

It is on this grassland that the grand Nadam event is held every year. The most famous three competitions are the horse race, archery and wrestling. The travelers can not only watch the excellent performance, but also join in some activities as well as tasting local dishes and experiencing the unique Mongolian culture and customs.
