9:16:44   September 14, 2010

Eight "young business ambassadors" from Singapore and China's Shanghai will "swap" cities and share their professional expertise for 10 weeks starting from this September.

Coming from diverse professional background -- from theater management to banking -- four Singaporeans and four Shanghainese were appointed Monday evening as China-Singapore "young business Ambassadors".

Addressing "ambassadors" appointment ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Wei Wei said the exchange program has provided a opportunity for young people from two countries to conduct exchanges and learn more about each other. It also helps them broaden their view and enhance their mutual trust.

Euleen Goh, chairman of Singapore International Fund (SIF), said: "We aim to replicate this successful partnership program in other major cities, ... In this way, more individuals can take advantage of the program and contribute to building a better world through their newfound perspectives and their professions."

China-Singapore young business ambassadors program targets aspiring Singapore and Shanghai young professionals.

Launched in 2004, the program is co-sponsored by the SIF, Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau for Foreign experts.
