Foreigners live in Shanghai
There were 152,100 foreign permanent residents in Shanghai Municipality in 2008, an increase of 14.1 percent from 2007.
Officials from the municipality government and the population and family planning commission said during a briefing Tuesday that there is a floating population of about 6.4 million in the city, of which 5.1 million had lived there for more than six months.
Officials said more foreigners are visiting the city on business, to work and to study.
About 3 million of the people in the city are aged 60 or above. The average life expentancy is 81.28 years.
